Play at Work Everyday and Get Paid!

LOGAN, Utah – Utah Construction Career Days will be at Bridgerland Applied Technology College on April 22-23, 2008. CCD will provide 3 thousand Bear River Region students in 7th-grade, and 10-12 grades, with hands-on experience in the construction industry. CCD will have an exhibit area, a trades area, and an area with heavy-duty equipment.

The exhibit area will give the students an opportunity to learn about colleges, apprenticeships, workplace safety, and the labor market in this industry. In the trades area, there will be hands-on activities for students to participate in, such as: wiring switches and plugs, brick and tile laying, carpentry, and plumbing. The equipment area will have an excavator, a grader, loader, backhoe, concrete mixer, and a snowplow for the students to test out their skills.

There is a shortage of Welders, Architects, Machinists, and many more, in the construction industry. The CCD will educate the students on what it takes to get started in this field while still attending high school. Construction is among the top 10 careers with the largest source of job growth in the U.S. economy.

This event will take place on Tuesday, April 22 at 8 a.m. and end on Wednesday, April 23 at 11 a.m.

For more information, contact Kelly Rigby at 435.760.1910 or krigby@batc.edu.

Check for AP style things. example: 3 thousand is 3,000 I beleive but double check. Also put CCD abbreviated by the first time you spell out what it means. But good job!

Good job. I liked the fact that you spoke about the shortage of qualified workers in the construction industry.

I felt that the last sentence of the first paragragh could've been moved to the next section.
