Play at Work Everyday and Get Paid!
LOGAN, Utah – Utah Construction Career Days (CCD) is coming to Bridgerland Applied Technology College (BATC) on April 22-23, 2008. BATC will host 3,000 Bear River Region students in 7th-grade, and 10-12 grades, with hands-on experience in the construction industry.
On these days, there will be an exhibit area, a trades area, and heavy-duty equipment area. The exhibit area will provide students with an opportunity to learn about colleges, apprenticeships, workplace safety, and the labor market in this industry. In the trades area, there will be hands-on activities for students to participate in, such as: wiring switches and plugs, brick and tile laying, carpentry, and plumbing. The equipment area will have an excavator, a grader, loader, backhoe, concrete mixer, and a snowplow for the students to test out their skills.
Construction is among the top 10 careers with the largest source of job growth in the U.S. economy. Being that there is a shortage of Welders, Architects, Machinists, and many other careers in the construction industry, CCD will educate the students on what it takes to get started in this field while still attending high school.
CCD will be at BATC on Tuesday, April 22 at 8 a.m. through Wednesday, April 23 at 11 a.m.
